Dead Sea Skincare Miracles (Eczema, Acne & Psoriasis Sufferers Take Note!)

Posted on February 10, 2011

Just occasionally we’ll allow our blog to go off topic and rave about something we have come across that we don’t sell ourselves, just because it’s fantastic. This is one of the occasions.

Dead Sea Soaps & Shampoos for Eczema, Acne & PsoriasisAmanda (who some of you may have spoken to when calling the office) has introduced us to a range of fabulous Dead Sea products which she was recommended for her eczema. They are free of detergents (no SLS!) and suitable for vegetarians, containing no lanolin or animal fats and not tested on animals. Better still, they are not some internet-only snake oil, but available online or in-store at Boots and come with plenty of great reviews from other eczema, acne and psoriasis sufferers who have tried them and love them.

Now, while we don’t all suffer from chronic dry skin conditions, winter has wreaked some havoc on our skin (yes we’re all girls at the office!). So we decided that we could all do with some TLC and bought a few items from the range to sample. The results? We’re converts. Here’s what we tried:

Eczema, Acne & Psoriasis ShampooDead Sea Mineral Shampoo / Eczema Shampoo: Shelley’s husband tried this instead of his usual anti-dandruff shampoo. He reports that it did the job, didn’t leave his scalp feeling dry and tight afterwards and smelled so good that Shelley’s been using it too.

Eczema, Psoriasis & Acne Sulphur SoapDead Sea Natural Sulphur Soap / Eczema & Psoriasis Soap: Amanda took this one home after reading some of the reviews that recommended this as a ‘stronger’ soap for when your eczema / psoriasis is particularly bad. The general consensus in the office after smelling it was that you’d probably only want to use it when it was really needed, as the sulphur smell is quite strong, but Amanda raved about this and credits it with really improving some stubborn eczema patches she’s had real trouble with (that’s enough information, we think!).

Dead Sea Dry Skin Moisturising Bath SaltsNatural Dead Sea Bath Salts with Frankincense & Rose Petals: Shelley took this one home a while ago and it took some time to get her verdict. [Okay, trying it did require finding time to make time, clean the bath and make sure she could enjoy it without being called to the door/phone/other emergency]. Another fan, she said that her skin felt baby soft afterwards and that the floating rose petals and wonderful scent made her feel like she was in a real romantic spa (hot tip for Valentines Day next week!). ‘Not only worth cleaning the bath for – but worth buying a bigger one for!’ was her conclusion.

So, there you have it. Products we don’t sell, but have tried, tested and want to rave about. Okay, their packaging is not the most glamorous (unless you’re in to 80’s retro) – but here it really is what is inside that counts. The company behind the range has a great website with more info about their Dead Sea products as well as useful information about dry skin conditions like eczema, acne and psoriasis. Though, as we’ve proved, you don’t need to be a sufferer to benefit.

But please don’t just take our word for it. Check out the mainly 5-Star reviews from other buyers on the Boots website too, and join the fan club. Your skin will thank you!
